Call for entries: Join the coven, weirdos...
Weird Sisters: Covenant is the first volume in our upcoming trilogy of books interrogating the figure of the witch in film and television...
Covenant, which will be released in the autumn, is an illustrated grimoire for the resistance, featuring original artwork and centring transgressive and ‘dangerous’ women—aged women, sapphic women, disabled women, satanic women, non-maternal women, and others who challenge, resist, and delegitimise the status quo.
We would love for the rest of the series to follow suit, featuring thought-provoking essays from women and nonbinary writers passionate about exploring the always tantalising and complicated figure of the witch, but we're also open to hearing from other interested writers. We very much welcome approaches that explore diverse perspectives, particularly from BIPOC, disabled, Indigenous/First Nation, LGBTQIA+, and displaced and refugee writers.
If your research areas align with an interdisciplinary focus between witch narratives in film and television and any of the following, we'd love to hear from you!
- archaeology
- art
- literature
- poetry
- theatre
- dance
- music
- politics
- folklore
- history
- film history
- philosophy
- occult
Be in touch via our contact form with a brief description of your research areas, your proposed topic, and the film(s) or television series you would like to focus on by 31 July 2026. If your proposal is a good fit for either volume, we can discuss the next steps (including compensation).
